Says owner, Jeanette Schwegman: "Five and a half years ago I launched Clico as a 4-star guesthouse offering fine dining to overnight guests as well as the public by appointment. At the end of 2010 we were awarded 5-star status and now, exactly a year later, the SA Tourism Grading Council has advised us that Clico has been graded a 5-star boutique hotel. The Clico team, expertly managed by our General Manager Sabine Seeger, is to be commended for adherence to superior standards that have allowed us to evolve into a boutique hotel, offering fine dining, expert conference and events facilities, as well as chic accommodation!"

Sabine Seeger, General Manager, says: "Clico's new boutique hotel status is mostly attributed to the owner providing my team and I, including our fine dining chef, with the proper, professional tools to develop the establishment into a popular hotel, which exceeded her expectations."

Clico's history in brief:
Clico opened its doors in June 2006 with 7 rooms and a staff complement of 5, soon achieving an average of 60%+ occupancy; two new en-suite bedrooms were added a year later and the team expanded to 8. By the second quarter of 2010 Clico employed an additional assistant manager and enjoyed 100% occupancy for 6 weeks during the 2010 World Cup; at the end of 2010 the hotel added a conference centre as well as an operations manager; 2011 proved an exceptional year in occupancy, fine dining and conference guests – with most of Clico's original overnight as well as local or visiting dining guests still frequenting the establishment. Sabine now leads a team of 9 which will soon increase by the addition of a sous chef in order to expand its fine dining facilities, comprising an elegant dining room overlooking the wooded gardens as well as enchanting dining decks in the tranquil gardens.
